Cookies
What this site stores in your browser
A cookie is a small text file a site asks your browser to keep. Pipeline Map Base uses a short list. You can accept or reject analytics cookies; rejecting them does not block the maps, journal, or enquiry form.
On a first visit a banner offers Accept and Reject with equal weight. Your choice is stored locally under the key pipeline_mapbase_cookie_consent. Essential cookies still run so the pages can load and so we can remember that choice. Read how we handle personal data on the privacy notice.
Types we use
Essential. Required for the banner to remember Accept or Reject, and for the host to serve static files. These are not used to follow you across other websites.
Analytics. Set only after Accept. They help us see which journal notes and map pages are read, in aggregate. They are not required for an enquiry or for reading a map page.
Cookie table
| Name | Purpose | Duration | Provider |
|---|---|---|---|
| pipeline_mapbase_cookie_consent | Stores whether you accepted or rejected analytics cookies, so the banner does not return on every page. | Until you clear site data (localStorage) | Pipeline Map Base (first party) |
| eleventy or host session (if the host sets one) | May be set by the static host to balance traffic. Not used by us to identify you. | Session or as the host documents | Site host |
| _ga / similar (only after Accept) | Aggregate counts of page reads, for example whether the engagement page is opened after the Full Pipeline Map. | Up to 12 months | Analytics provider, first-party loaded |
How to manage or disable cookies
Use Accept or Reject on the banner. To change later, clear stored data for pipeline-mapbase.digital in your browser and reload; the banner returns. You can also block cookies in the browser settings. Blocking essential storage may make the banner reappear each visit; the rest of the site still works.
Third-party cookies
This site loads typefaces from Google Fonts. Google may receive your IP address as part of serving those files. We do not load advertising networks. If you accepted analytics, the analytics provider may set additional cookies as listed in their own notice. Embedded images from Unsplash or Pexels are ordinary image requests; those services may see the image URL being fetched.
If you disable cookies
Pages, maps, journal notes, and the enquiry form remain available. We will not have an aggregate view of which notes are read. Font files may still be requested from the font host unless you block third-party requests in the browser.
